There were more duels fought in South Carolina than any other state in the country with Charleston being the center, according to Grahme Long, who wrote a book on these duels and will tell us wonderful tales and even show us a pair of dueling pistols! Grahme is chief curator of the Charleston Museum.
After lunch, we will visit the Old Exchange Building and have a guided tour of the dungeon where tales of the patriots imprisoned there during the Revolutionary War and the infamous gentleman pirate, Stede Bonnet, will be revealed. This, you will not want to miss!

Sapelo is owned by the state of GA, except for the community of Hog Hammock where some land ownership dates back to slave days. Residents are beginning to sell off their property, so now is the time to see Sapelo before vacation homes become the norm.
Ferry to this barrier island 45 people call home; tour via a school bus with a local guide to see the mansion, light house, sugar mill ruins and marine institute. We interact with islanders, climb the lighthouse, have a Lowcountry feast in the restaurant of one of the best cooks in the region and then, stroll on the beach with no one in sight for miles.

Upon arrival, we will take a guided tour of Aiken's fascinating historic district with a local seasoned guide. Then, on to Conger Field for lunch and the Fall Steeplechase.
